Who am I? Well, yesterday it was a not a pretty picture...I was Depressed!!! This is not a normal occurrence for me so the tears, anger, resentment, frustration, hopelessness, presented me as a MESS and it was not pretty. I understand my mother a little better.... I wanted to just sleep.... sleep so as not to feel that icky pain....
enough... it is past, today is a new day, I have chosen not to let those feelings overpower me.
I have not answered the question....
WHO AM I? not that that is such a big or relevant concept to ponder but... in terms of genealogy it does present some interesting rabbit holes! One of the holes I have been stuck in was my Gates lineage. I have gotten my great-grandfather (Thaddeus Warsaw Gates) of Reno, Nevada linked back to Penobscot Maine, his parents were, George B. Gates and Alberta (Albie) Gates and she ran a boarding house there, even though he was in Nevada - this info per 1900 census. But then could not find out anything else. So for years it has sat in my genealogy box. Gathering dust. Moldering. This last month I was going thru the files, doing a little organizing, and there it sat... a copy of the census... and it poked my curiosity, I did not run out and purchase Ancestry.com or plan a trip to Maine, but it just came more to the forefront of my dwindling brain.
I love Face Book. It allows me to keep up with family (immediate & extended), I can share and see pictures, I have reconnected with old friends, I have found relatives in foreign countries, I have made new friends. I love Facebook. One of my New Friends is Mary. I love her posts. We have many similar interests and tastes and I have enjoyed following her posts. Lots of fun tidbits. Recently she posted a picture & invitation :
